How Can I Reduce Construction Costs for My Pole Barn?

Pole Barn builders in Cincinnati

Pole barns are excellent structures used by many farmers, tradespeople, and hobbyists to expand their work and productivity. One of the reasons successful small business owners choose post-frame construction is because it is an efficient use of their economic resources. With that in mind, let us offer a few suggestions for building a pole building in Pittsburgh on a budget.

Choose 29 Gauge Steel

Although it is possible to build with 28-gauge or 26-gauge steel, we recommend using the 29-gauge steel we use on most of our buildings. The 29-gauge steel we use is high-quality, warrantied for 40 years, and will not add to the final price of our standard building costs.

Roof Slope

A standard 4/12 roof pitch is the ideal design for maximizing building strength and the efficient use of building materials. A roof with a 4/12 pitch should handle snow, wind, and other inclement weather very nicely without compromising structural integrity. Increasing or decreasing roof pitch will either require additional materials or reduce the strength of your building.

Avoid Unnecessary Options

Every pole barn and post frame garage in Pittsburgh is a little different. Every owner has unique needs and desires for their building. If you are trying to stay within a tight budget, only include the doors, windows, and other options you need most.

Some of our customers initially choose to build a basic building, but design it so that options like cement floors, electricity, and additional doors or windows can be installed later. Most pole barn builders in Pittsburgh should be able to help you do this.

Choose Standard Lengths

Post-frame and custom horse barn builders in Pittsburgh are capable of building to any height, width, and length you want. However, because most building materials are produced in standard lengths, material may be wasted if you choose non-standard dimensions. For example, a building 29-feet long by 25-feet wide will cost as much (or more) as a building 32-feet long by 30-feet wide.
